Come meal deal with me 5

Good afternoon!      Welcome to my fifth and final blog entry post. This week I had planned to head to Lidl but due to the disruption caused by COP-26 I settled for M&S instead.   Main Meal   For main I purchased a roast chicken and bacon sandwich. After weeks of research into the meal deal market I can confidently state that this main was by far the best. Not a fault could be found with the sandwich, and I cannot recommend it enough.  Drink and Snack  M&S’s choice of drinks was unique with them offering several quality own brand soft drinks. For drink I grabbed a freshly squeezed still lemonade which was a delight. Similarly to the drinks, M&S offers a number of own brand snacks ranging from crisps to fruit bags. For the snack I bought falafels with a houmous dip. This was good but sadly the houmous to falafel ratio was all wrong. Price  The price of this meal deal was extortionate. I paid a grand total of six pounds sixty-f...

Good evening! Welcome to the fourth instalment of my blog. This week after a strenuous morning of uni I headed to Boots on Sauchiehall Street for lunch. I had not planned to review Boots but after a numerous people requested it, I just had to. I was sceptical about Boots as they are a health and beauty retailer and only recently, did I discovered they did meal deals. However, I was pleasantly surprised.  Main Meal For main I bought a turkey feast sandwich. Admittedly this wasn’t my ideal choice, but it was one of the few sandwiches left. Considering it was only two o’clock the lack of sandwiches was a good indicator for things to come. The sandwich had very little faults and considering it wasn’t my first choice I still enjoyed it.  Drink and Snack Boots had a very good selection of drinks and it was nice to see a good range of non-fizzy alternatives available. I grabbed myself a Ribena light which was refreshing and quenched my thirst beautifully. Similar to the drinks, the...

Hi there! Welcome to my third blog entry. This week I grabbed my big jacket again and ventured out to the Co-op on Sauchiehall street. Going into this week’s meal deal I was unsure what to expect as I had heard mix reviews about the Co-op’s meal deals. Would it be better than the Tesco’s masterclass? Or would I be left feeling disappointed like after my visit to Sainsbury’s in week one? So, strap in and try to enjoy!  Main meal  The overall selection in the Co-op was good with a nice range of sandwiches and vegan salads. After the disappointment of my Sainsbury’s wrap in week one I was keen to give wraps another try- I shouldn’t have. I got myself a smoked ham and mozzarella wrap. The wrap was nice and spongy; however, the contents were horrible and sloppy and there was no way I was going to finish it. Co-op needs a serious re-shuffling in their wrap department.  Drink and Snack For snack I got myself a brownie. This was the only redeeming factor of the meal. The t...

Good afternoon,  Welcome to the second instalment of my blog which I am required to write as part of my Marketing course. Sadly, none of my flatmates were brave enough to join me this week so I grabbed my warm jacket and headed out in the rain. This week I headed out to Tesco Express on Sauchiehall street. My hopes for Tesco were high as they are known for their good selection and meal deal quality. They didn’t disappoint! What did I get? Main meal For main I took a different angle to last week’s disappointment. This week I copped myself a chicken and chorizo sandwich. The make-up of this sandwich was solid and the spongy brown bread complimented the contents beautifully. Tesco are clearly an experts in the sandwich department. Overall, this sandwich was delightful and managed to raise my spirits on such a wet day.  Drink and snack  I grabbed an orange Lucozade sport as my drink. This was a strong choice and complemented the sandwich well. For snack I went with a bit of a...

Come Meal Deal with me

Hi there! As part of my third year Marketing course I am required to write a series of blogs on a topic of my choice. Like many students I enjoy a good supermarket meal deal and therefore, I have decided to review different meal deals from different supermarkets. So strap in and enjoy some very mediocre blog posts.  For the first instalment of my blog, myself and my not so enthusiastic flatmate Callum ventured out to Sainsbury's Local on Woodlands drive. The choice of options was limited with the only real snack option being crisps- this was very disappointing.  What did I get?  Main meal For main `I picked myself a Southern Fried Chicken wrap. This wrap was very average and lacked flavour. The wrap itself was very tough with its contents being mushy and not very enjoyable. When making the warps Sainsbury's needs to put more thought into freshness and their chicken to salad ratio. Overall, this main was not great and I would not recommend it! Drink and Snack For the...
